About

The Invention Coach is a computer-based learning environment that engages middle school students in exploratory problem-solving. The goal of the Coach is to prepare students to learn from later expository instruction, such as lecture.

The current Invention Coach guides students as they invent their own equations for physical science phenomena, such as density and speed.

The Invention Coach provides adaptive, problematizing guidance that pushes learners to engage with the complexity of the concepts underlying invention tasks.

The Invention Coach Project was funded by the National Science Foundation, Cyberlearning grant #1361062.
